If you have the RealTek HD Audio Manager installed you will find it in control panel, open it. It looks like the default install has a default option selected that causes this. Its a Realtek HD Audio Manager software setting that needs to be changed. I had the same problem, no LINE IN displayed in the Recording tab in Windows mentioned above so you couldn't switch to your 3.5mm input which led me to this thread and then I worked it out. Has anyone fixed this yet on your systems? Same results using DSC Decoder and RecordPad recording programs. If I tap the built-in mic there is modulation and sound recorder records voice input to the internal mic. I can hear my line input on the headphones but the microphone device level indicator does not modulate and the sound recorder runs but plays back a blank, silent. Plugging that in opens the Audio Manager and offers the Headphone/Headset choice of device just plugged in.
This has allowed my connecting headphones and microphone or audio line in to the input jack. Driver updated to the latest from Realtek.ĪSUS equipped this machine with a combo headphone/microphone jack requiring our using a TRRS Male to 2 x TRS 3.5mm Female Audio/Microphone Break-Out Adapter. The only choices are Microphone, and Stereo Mixer, whatever that is. Like the original poster I have no "Line In" audio recording device listed in the recording tab, entering via either the Windows speaker icon or the Realtek HD Audio Manager speaker icon, and yes, with disabled and disconnected devices checked.
